Dear
Christmas makes me think of you. I see you in the glow of colorful lights or sitting in an overstuffed chair with a crackling fire close enough to feel the warmth enveloping me.
You are my gift. If I think of what I want for Christmas…what more could I want than you. My wishes came true when you came into my life.
But you love gifts, don’t you. Your excitement when you see the pile of presents lights up my spirit. Your joy at the smallest surprise is a joy to me. The crowds, the noise, it all becomes fun when I am searching for the perfect “toy” that will light your face with pleasure and anticipation.
I love that we are making our traditions together.
It’s hard to remember life without you. What was it like not to have your smile…your touch. I don’t want to remember. I want to bask in the glow of our time together. I want to think of your face when I look up and see you approaching. I want to remember the feel of your closeness that fits the crook of my arm and nestles against me as we listen to the music and the bells.
The holiday lights, the great table laden with food and the shared candy cane from your stocking, your cries of delight at the sight of the stack of gifts under the tree…these are the old and new memories of Christmas with you.
The warmth of Christmas will carry us into the New Year together. It will tide us over the cold months of winter. It will last us until our next Christmas together…and the next….and the next…
xxoo
P.S. Okay, all you readers out there. Let me know what I should add or subtract. Is this too sappy? Not enough? Too general? Does it miss what you wanted to say?
Let me know. We’ll fix it together!
