I am a woman.
I love my life but not every moment of every day.
I have 4 children, 3 daughters-in-law, 1 son-in-law, 5 grandsons and 4 granddaughters, 5 birth sisters (2 living), 10 adopted sisters and brothers (7 living) , one husband, nieces and nephews great- and grand- and too numerous to count.
I have wonderful friends.
When I think of anything else that is pertinent or interesting or not covered in my posts, I will add it…maybe.
***************The Bodhisattva* on my page is Avalokiteśvara. ****************
There are many names and permutations of this enlightened Buddhist. These vary by country and lineage of Buddhism. She is said to have great compassion and loving-kindness. I aspire to this. Most of all I love the description that says that the 1000 arms are for loving all people. (I’m thinking lots of hugs.) The fact that each hand holds an eye is a bit disconcerting…but I guess mothers are thought to have eyes in the back of their heads. Why not in their 1000 hands?
*Mahāyāna Buddhism encourages everyone to become a bodhisattva and to take the bodhisattva vows. With these vows, one makes the promise to work for the complete enlightenment of all sentient beings by practicing the six perfections.
What a lovely gift you are giving your kith and kin! And your friends too. Your writing is thoughtful and beautiful. I was really moved by your entry about your sister and grief over her passing. I am sorry you are losing these treasures of your past. Thank you for letting me into your life and thoughts. I feel very honored.

Who wouldn’t appreciate wonderful readings? Truthfully, I would read so much more, of so many more “things” if my eyes were healthier. Love reading ….. learning.
No blog for moi ….. hahaha! I couldn’t ever be that responsible these days. Not at my age. Although I do subscribe to other blogs where the authors post only several times a year. One has to be up to it ….. in many ways.
You (what is your name please!) can always reach me at Brams2002@aol.com

Okay. I am “enlightened” now MotherPatience!
A lot more to read than I dare in “sx perfections” ….. wow.
We have a family friend of many years that practices similar teachings/knowledge. Many times we visited the temple in Encinitas. Just absolutely beautiful and gorgeous grounds. I have fond memories of the quiet, peace and sweet aromas of the gardens. Maybe one day we will visit again.

Okay, I’m with you as long as you “get” that the description of the Bodhisattva life creates an aspiration, not a profile. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if our enlightened moments lasted more than a moment?

Absolutely!!
“Enlightenment” actually does last. For me anyway.
When you learn something new ….. and valuable, kept close to your heart and memory ….. to me that is definitely enlightenment.
To me, “faith” ….. “hope” …… “life” ….. is based on more so on compassion/kindness. Not exactly a religious experience in my view. Learning the “hows” of beliefs is really amazing to me. So many faiths, so
little time. We all need more of that.
Are we having fun yet? Ha. Yeah. Good to read each others ideas/messages. Break time!
Enjoy your day MotherPatience.

You are right, of course. I sometimes find myself re-learning things, tho. I think I have inculcated something into my life and then find that a different situation brings out the lesson to be learned again. Fun to exchange ideas. Thanks.
